Battle Arena: A Lack Of Ghosts

Previous heroes have set impressive times in the recent Test of Speed run through Aberas’ most dangerous mission, the Battle Arena. The aid of their fallen allies in spirit-form has been invaluable to them in this task. But what if these heroes had not been able to call on the help of their spirits? Would they have failed, relying only on their own skills? And, most importantly – could YOU have done better without relying on your ethereal allies?

Event FAQ

The Objective: “A Lack Of Ghosts” is all about skilful coordination of your team’s skills, in attempting to clear out all rooms of the Aberas Battle Arena map as fast as possible – without the use of spirits! A GM will join your team to record and supervise your team’s attempt to be the fastest to complete all four rooms and then end the mission, and ensures that all teams participate without the use of spirits.

What do I need to do to participate? You need to create a team of four players (level range 30-50) by the time the contest begins. The player signing up the team is considered the team captain, and is responsible for all four players showing up! The team captain may sign up two replacement team members – however, only four players will participate in the Event.
When can I register my team? We will accept the first ten teams to sign up with four members each. The thread for registration will open on Monday, 12 October, at 6pm CET and close as soon as we have ten valid registrations.

What does ‘valid registration’ mean? The registration post needs to contain the team captain’s name and the name of three friends he or she wishes to register for the Event. Posts containing less than four names will be disregarded – it is not possible to register “placeholders” to be filled in later. It is however possible to register up to two extra players.

What is the goal? Your team’s goal is to reach the extraction point [D] at the end of the dungeon (after going through ALL FOUR rooms) as fast as possible WITHOUT the use of Spirits.

How are we going to measure the time? The clock will start running the second the first player exits the starting area [A] and enters area [b]. After that, the clock will not be stopped until the “Main Objective Complete” message shows up! Time will be measured in increments of ten seconds.
What happens if there is a draw? In the event of a draw, the total experience gained during the map will be used as a tie-breaker.

Can the GM help us kill monsters faster? The GM will only be observing the mission progression – and making sure that each team reaches the very last room and does not use any Spirits!

Date and time: You will be able to sign up your team in this thread on Monday, 12October, at 6pm CET. Teams will be chosen on a first-come-first-serve basis. We will allow a maximum of ten teams.

The Test of Speed will take place on the following Friday, 16 October, between 4pm CET and 7pm CET. We will attempt to arrange a time that is most convenient for the team captains.

Players: 10 teams formed by 4 players and 2 replacements.

Disconnections: In a case where one or more players of a participating team disconnects, the Event will continue without interruption. In a case where there is a server-wide reset or the GM disconnects, the Event may have to be replayed.

Any restrictions? All classes and items are allowed. Players must have a minimum level of 30. NO SPIRITS ARE ALLOWED. The use of any spirit of any level during this mission will result in the disqualification of the team.

Where will we play? The team captain will receive a PM before Friday afternoon with the Lobby, Room Name, Password and Time. The Room will be created by the accompanying GM.

Should a team not show up within five minutes after the agreed time, the team will be disqualified.

Should a team show up with less than four players, the mission will be played with the players present.

What are the rewards? To reward their skills, all participating members of the winning team who survive will receive ONE Spirit level 40 of a class of their choice!
